When it comes to fashion, many of us are simply lost. We think of super models walking down the runway in retro futurist metallic jumpsuits and other bizarre outfits we couldn’t see ourselves wearing out and about in public, and we just think fashion’s not for us. However, that’s not fashion, that’s high fashion. Fashion is a school of thought, essentially, that proposes guidelines for how to dress,. It’s not one specific subset of clothing, but, rather, a loose dress code top help us look our best, no matter which subset we subscribe to. Therefore, whether you’re a plain Jane or a fancy Nancy, fashion has something to offer you. Here are a few tips for how to make the most of a down to Earth wardrobe.
First and foremost, color is your friend. Too many of us stick to black or white tee shirts and blue jeans, and that’s a shame, because you can engineer some truly stunning, yet simple, looks with just a smidgen of color coordination. For instance, you can take those same blue jeans and pair them a yellow shirt, yellow being blue’s opposite, or “complementary” color, which will make both colors play off of each other and stand out.
Another great way to breathe new life into a normal wardrobe is to invest in new clothes that still fit the bill of normal, but that also have some more unique qualities. For example, graphic tees are ubiquitous, but considered tacky in the fashion world. Well, a compromise here is to go for asymmetrical graphic tees. These shirts have designs that wrap around the side of the shirt, creating a unique look. Don’t be afraid to spend some money at Hudson’s Bay in order to find the right items for your new look.
